Cariari Golf Course
Golf
courses appeared on Costa Rica in 1944 in the Costa Rican Country
Club which is situated outside of San Jose. Its 9 holes stayed
the only golf course of the country during 25 years. Finally in
1970 George Fazio was appointed to conceive the first international
golf course 18 holes in the Cariari Country Club. At the moment
it is considered as the best of all Central America.
It was drawn on an old coffee plantation, in the heart of the
Central Valley. The arrangement and the imagination that the architect
had to have to adapt it to the ground makes the golf course as
beautiful as impressive. Cariari welcomed numerous events of which
the Central and South American Open, co-sponsored by the Professional
Golfer's Association and the Friendship Tournament. These events
attracted players such as Chi-chi Rodriguez, Tom Weiskof, Larry
Ziegler, Raymond Floyd, Peter Jacobsen, David Graham, Curtis Strange
and many others.

Royal
Pacific Golf & Country Club
Created
in 1997, this golf course 18 holes, situated near the Paradisus
Playa Conchal is added to the golf course of Resort Garra de Leon.
Drawn by Ron Garl, it offers an interesting complement to the
opened spaces of Conchal. The first nine holes are relatively
flat with a good number of them following the river which lines
the bank and the golf course. In contrast, the following 9 holes
possess rather stiff fairways cut through out the rocky ground.
They moreover ask to work more the precision rather than the length.
It does not mean playing shorter, but keeping the ball on the
fairway. The golf course offers lots of variety. The challenge
is present and the rather careful game will see itself rewarded.
