Big Island Country Club
This
private golf course 18 holes was drawn by Pete & Perry Dye
from Dye Designs. It is situated on the hillsides of Mauna Kea,
at 609 metres over the sea, offering that way a fresher climate.
The golf course presents an ideal combination between a magnificent
well maintained mountain environment and a memorable arrangement.
Measuring from 4398 to 6431 metres, it proposes 5 different departures
what allows golfers of any level to appreciate the game. The golf
course contains 6 lakes of variable size where the water comes
into play on 9 holes and a brook of approximately 800 metres long
which comes into play on 5 holes. This last one, which we cross
several times via wide wooden bridges, brings not only its challenge
to the game but also the pleasant rustle of the running water.

Discovery Harbour Golf and Country Club
This
golf course 18 holes open since 1972 was drawn by Robert Trent
Jones Sr. Few Hawaiian golfers know this golf course, even among
the inhabitants of Big Island. In fact the golf almost does not
appear in most golf publications. It is due to the fact that it
is based on the most put off part of the island, far from town
centres and also because it often changed owner these last years.
Situated more exactly near the south point of the island, between
Waiohino and Ka Leo ( South Point), on the lowest hillsides of
Mauna kea, the golf course belongs at present to a Japanese firm
American Showa Corporation which has acquire it in 1985. Every
hole of the course offers magnificent points of view on the ocean
and on the Mauna Kea mountains. In some places appears emanations
of volcanic fog from the Kilauea volcano which is near and entered
in activity since 1983. The golf course is decorated with eucalyptus
and with palm trees. The club offers at disposal a driving range,
a putting green and proposes the rent of clubs.

Hamakua Country Club
This
golf course 9 holes was created by Frank Anderson in 1926. He
takes place on the cliffs's heights of the coast, offering by

This
international golf course 18 holes is nested in the middle of
the chaotic natural outlines of the island, from the bank till
700 feet over the sea. The course offers spectacular points of
view on the Kohala coast and Pacific Ocean as well as on the chains
of the mountains of Mauna Kea , Mauna Loa, and Kohala at the background.

Hilo Municipal Golf Course
This
public golf course 18 holes created in 1950 was drawn by Willard
Wilkenson. It possesses high greens, fairways lined with trees,
but no sand bunkers. Water traps come into play on approximately
12 holes. Offering magnificent points of view on the Hilo Bay
and its green environment, it is a golf course which will seduce
the golfers of an average level. The Hilo Open as well as local

resort, it delicately integrates into the landscape. Having a
total length of 6492 metres, its disposition carefully elaborated

Kona Country Club
Created
in 1966 and situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Hualalai
Mount, the club proposes two golf courses 18 holes. The first
one, the Ocean Course, is a golf course of the
seaside. It possesses wide and flat fairways as well as a majority
of holes situated in front of the ocean. It is a difficult course
because it is very close from the sea and undergoes the influence

Mauna Lani Golf Courses

Naniloa Country Club
Known
under the name of Banyan Country Club, Naniloa is a golf course
9 holes half-private situated in the center of Hilo. Created
in 1970, the golf course was drawn and built by Alexander Kahapea.
It was then bought by the Japanese company Nakano Company, Ltd.
Pleasant to play, it contains numerous trees and two lakes as
well as holes which it is necessary to approach thzm with caution.

Sea Mountain Golf Course
Drawn
by Arthur Jack Snyder, the golf course opened in 1974. It is
situated in Punalu' u, along the southwest coast of the island,
at the front of the Mauna Loa Mountains Starting at the level
of the sea, in par-72 6106 metres in length rises on a difference
in altitude of 180 metres, offering magnificent points of view
from every hole. The most difficult hole is the 17th. Indeed,
par-4 it makes 359 metres since the regular departure, possesses
4 lakes which line it on the left, numerous trees which follow
the right-hand side and an immense tree in the middle of the
fairway. The club offers a complete range of services.

Volcano Golf & Country Club
This
golf course 18 holes is situated on the sides of Mauna Loa,
at the southeast of the island, not far from the Volcanoes National
Park. Amounting to a height of more than 1000 metres over the
sea, it offers incomparable points of view as well as air of
a very considerable quality during a round. Rather flat, it

The 'Beach Course':
Built in 1981, it was drawn by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It is especially
known for the beauty and the challenge present on the hole n°12.
In Par-5, the shot rises in the direction of the Pacific, with
the lave lining on every side of the fairway. Because it is very
present, the lave integrates into the game and so demands strategy
and precision.
The ' Kings' Course':
Built in 1990, it was drawn by Weiskopf & Jay Morrish. Contrary
to the Beach Course, it plays more in the inside. It possesses
robust and strategic disposal which asks the golfer to think the
game throughout the round.

Waimea Country Club
Created
by a professional of the PGA, Larry Harris, this golf course 18
holes semi-private does not look like the usual Hawaiian golf
courses. Of a Scottish Links style and very opened, it takes place
on the high meadows of Waimea and contains numerous trees (' Ironwood
trees ') which can influence the game. On all holes, the most
hilly ones are the 9 last ones. Fairways is defined by roughs
of a standard size whereas greens are slightly tilted and fast.
28 bunkers add their challenge and the water comes into play on
5 holes. The climate is generally windy and fresh, sometimes can
appear fog or rain. The golf course offers at the same moment
points of view on the ocean and on the mountains. The club offers
