Cavendish Golf Course
This
golf course 9 holes was created in 1947, drawn by E.B. Cavendish
and implemented by Dole. During more than 50 years until the
1990s, Cavendish was the only golf course of the small island
of Lanai, having for role to amuse the small community which
worked in plantations. It twists among 'Norfolk' pines which
had been imported to bring a little of humidity to the relatively
dry climate of the island. Possessing a rather flat disposition,
it possesses long and direct fairways. The wind, which can
sometimes blow more hardly than the one of Mauai nevertheless
renowned serious, brings its part of challenge to the game.
The most difficult hole is the last one, situated on a high
green and undergoing directly the wind's assaults.

Challenge
at Manele Golf Course
Drawn
by Jack Nicklaus, the golf course is situated on a hilly ground
which overhangs the cliffs of Hulopo' e Bay. Rich in reliefs,
the plan contains several ravines and takes place in the heart
of a magnificent wild natural environment. Each hole offer magnificent
points of view on the ocean and most of them require precision
to hit from a cliff another, using the ocean itself as a water
trap. 5 different departures allow golfer of a good level to take
up the challenge to strike above the natural gorges or the ravines
and test its competences, whereas the player of an average level
can appreciate the magnificent points of view without suffering
from limitations on the distance and the precision.
