Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course
According
to the architect Robin Nelson who conceived it, the golf course
is very similar to the Royal Troon. But besides looking like the
famous British golf course, it takes place on an exceptional place.
Opened in 1999, it was quickly classified among the best Links
which we can find in the Hawaiian Islands. The golf course takes
place on a ground which remained intact, in the middle of the
natural dunes which were formed at the same time as the island.
The plan follows the natural ability of the ground which is slightly
tilted. Fairways, wave-like, are characterized by important changes
of level. Lined by a dense forest, they are punctuated with bunkers
strategically placed. Of an average size, greens are also wave-like.
The club offers a complete range of services among which a high-quality
training center.

The
North course opened in 1962 and represents one of the
two courses of the Hawaiian Islands to be drawn by Robert Trent
Jones Sr. It begins at the sea level to follow then the bank and
to twist in the direction of the Maui mountains. The architect
has taken advantage of the rippling ground to create slightly
sloping fairways and wide greens, allowing then a strategic approach
on every hole.

The South course, which was initially created to be a
main course, was redrawn by the American architect Arthur Jack
Snyder. Possessing a combination of wide fairways and of subtle
greens, it addresses to players of any level. Rails of the railway
of the old sugar cane plantation goes by in certain holes, reminding
the culture and the history of the Hawaiian Islands. A big variety
of plants and flowers decorate the course, what adds to the charm.
