the origin of the club goes back up to 1882, making Glasgow Gailes

recent was where Justin Leonard triumphed, in 1997. In the course

champions: Bobby Locke, Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf, Tom Watson
and Mark Calcavecchia, each player being a legend.

The history of Prestwick Golf Club can be redrawn by the Red Lion
Inn, who is always at Prestwick Cross. The fact that this place
was occupied by a certain number of gentlemen of the region, marked
the foundation of the club. Evoked for ever as being the place
of birth of The Open Championship, Prestwick welcomed in all 24
Opens, the last one dating 1926, after which crowds were considered
too big.
The initial 12 hole course welcomed the first Open in 1860, won
by Willie Park. It was then widened to a 18 holes in 1883. Since,
the course has not change a lot, 7 holes stayed like the origin.
