course was created in 1936 for the enjoyment of foreign visitors
to Aix les Bains. Not very long with unevenly spaced holes, it
is not really hard enough for experienced players. But the place
is quite pleasant enough for family and friends to have a good
time.

This
golf course, designed by Thierry Sprecher and Géry Watine
and opened in 1988, has lightly undulating fairways surrounded
by ancient trees. The splendid job done by the green-keepers and
the continual improvements made to it make this a really top-quality
course.

This
golf course is on an estate of 90 hectares in the midst of a forest
more than a hundred years old. It was designed by Jeremy Pern
with a wide range of holes on the plain or in the woods, so there
is something to please very player.

Golf de Chambon 
Designed
by Michel Gayon, Chambon is on hilly woodland south of St Etienne.
It is somewhat reminiscent of a Scottish Highlands course, and
the views are splendid. Its variety and the beautiful scenery
make this course well worth a visit.

Golf Club de Chamonix 
Designed by Robert Trent Jones
Sr., this course is at the bottom of the glacier valley between
the Mont Blanc and the Aiguilles Rouges. It was first developed
by hotel owners for the enjoyment of the Anglo-Saxon summer visitors
to Chamonix in the 1930s.

This
course was designed by Michel Gayon and is very popular with the
Swiss. The ground is uneven and has very few trees. Its difficulty
lies in the relief and rivers which cross the fairways with their
pools. The greens are nicely designed and well sheltered.

Golf du Gouverneur 
With
a total of 45 holes, the Gouverneur has one 9-hole and two 18-hole
courses, the Breuil and the Montaplan. The first, which winds
its long flat way round the lakes of the Dombe, is one of the
most challenging in the region. The second is suited to all levels.

There
are two courses here: a 9-hole, Uriage, and an 18-hole, Bresson,
designed by Robert Trent Jones. The wonderful surrounding scenery
is formed by the mountains of Belledonne, Vercors and Chartreuse.
The 18-hole course requires a mastery that means it can only be
tackled by golfers with a very good handicap.

course has a splendid view of the Alps and abounds in water hazards
which provide many occasions to lose the ball. It has a lot of
trees and the land is hilly. While it can be difficult for beginners,
it is rewarding for experienced players.

Mont d'Arbois Golf Club
As the Chamonix Golf, the Mont
d'Arbois Golf Club of was created to decorate summer stays of
the prestigious guests of the hotel: three holes then nine are
quickly fitted out. Every year the course is improved but will
stay for long time at nine holes. It is the most important golf
of France above 1000 m. In 1968, eighteen current holes were opened.
Situated on a tray at an average height of 1320m, this course,
which is the most old mountain course, remained accessible to
all players, whatever their level is.

There
are two 18-hole courses here: the ‘Brocards’, designed
by Michael Fenn and suited to all levels, and the more recent
‘Sangliers’, designed by Hugues Lambert, which is
very long and requires a full set of clubs. Half of the holes
have water hazards and there are quite a lot of bunkers.
