PORTUGAL: Algarve
Located
between Praia da Rocha and Alvor, it is the last golf course to
have been drawn by three times winner of the Open Champion, Sir
Henry Cotton. Although it is directed to a wide public of golfers,
it will fit in particular to players who possess a low handicap.
Indeed, the hole n°16, "O Gigante", is one of the
longest in Europe. Making a total length of 6125 metres, the golf
course possesses slightly wave-like fairways and scenic sights
on the Monchique's mountains and on the surrounding campaign.
Fairways as well as greens are strikingly maintained. These last
ones are moreover very well guarded by bunkers strategically placed
and watertraps. The club offers a complete range of services among
which its club house, entirely renewed, which proposes a spacious
and elegant restaurant in front of a panoramic sight on the 18th
hole.
Situated
between Lagoa and Carvoeiro, both golf courses of the club were
drawn by Ron Fream de Golfplan, USA. They take place on a magnificent
ground waving among olive trees, carob trees, fig trees and almond
tree among which some are more than 600 years old. The first golf
course Pinta Course, which opened in 1992, quickly
gained a good reputation for its excellent condition. Indeed,
its fairways are covered with Bermuda herb and greens, from Penn
Cross Bent, are excellent. Two decorative lakes decorate the course.
The second, Gramacho, is an international golf
course which reached its 18 holes. Indeed, with its 9 initial
holes drawn by Ron Fream, 9 were added in 2002. The club offers
at disposal a complete range of services.

Placed
in front of a magnificent panoramic sight on the Lagos bay and
the historic center of the same city, the Palmares club quickly
gained the reputation to be one of the most scenic golf courses
in Algarve. Besides from offering a magnificent point of view,
it takes place among almond trees, locust trees and other shrubs
which reveal all their beauty notably in spring when they are
in flower. Drawn by the famous English architect Frank Pennick,
the golf course uses the natural ability of the site in its advantage.
5 of the first 9 holes go among the dunes of sand of the Meia
Praia beach, whereas the following 13 holes twist on a slightly
hilly ground. The club offers a complete range of services.
Located
in an ideal place for holidays, Parque da Floresta is one of the
most spectacular golf course in Europe. Twisting on a wave-like
ground, it possesses a very varied disposition where every hole
is unique. Its variety and its charm seem unlimited, moreover
one round is not enough to discover all its resources. Parque
da Floresta is not only an interesting golf course, it also offers
fantastic sights on the surrounding campaign of Algarve and the
Atlantic Ocean. These last years an important investment was brought
to the golf course where several holes were redrawn as well as
to club which saw itself attributed a golf school. The club offers
a complete range of services among which its restaurant situated
in front of a panoramic sight on the hole n°18 and the magnificent
surrounding landscape.

The
Pinheiros Altos course was designed by Ronald Fream and opened
in 1992. Located in the area of Quinta Lago, he benefits from
a solid reputation. In the world of golf it is known for the mental
challenge which it brings by its well placed traps. The first
9 holes are played against the bottom of the fairways surrounded
with pines. The 9 other holes bring interesting water plans in
the game. One of the holes most attractive holes is n°17 whose
green is on an island surrounded by water. 
The Quinta Do Lago course was
designed by William Mitchell and was inaugurated in 1974. It became
internationally known after having welcomed Portuguese Open in
numerous occasions. The course allows the player to approach the
greens in various manners. The most known hole is n°15, memorable
by 3 which recquierts a 200 metre shot above a lake, from a tee
placed on a green surrounded with pines. The Quinta Do Lago course
is an integral part of the Ria Formosa park, a real ecosystem
which lodges a big variety of birds. On the other hand, it is
integrated into a high-quality resort, including an excellent
restaurant, bars and the possibility of combining golf with the
other activities. 
Located
between Albufeira and Pera near Gale beach, the golf course takes
place on a flat and wet ground. Making a total length of 6080
meters it is not very long but is however rich in challenges.
The main difficulty is represented by the water which is very
present in the game. Indeed, we count not less than 14 water obstacles.
Varied, lakes establish an interesting test. Altogether it is
a pleasant golf course, especially for players well prepared technically.
The club offers at disposal a modern and nice club house, a complete
training area and a golf school.
Considered
as the biggest and the most luxurious in Portugal, this resort
is situated on a magnificent site, at only 20 minutes from the
international airport of Faro. It proposes two of the most beautiful
golf courses of the country as well as numerous activities. The
biggest part of the property extends along the golf courses. The
resort offers that way at disposal villas and luxury apartments
with a magnificent sight on the fairways or also on the ocean.

The
second, Royal Golf Course, is also a surprising
course. Its wave-like fairways goes between pines and magnificent
lakes surrounded by wild flowers, offering also remarkable points
of view on Vale doh Lobo. The club offers a complete range of
quality services.
Vale
doh Milho is a 9 holes which was drawn by the Ryder Cup player,
Dave Thomas. Rather short, this golf course of a park style will
surprise more than a player by the richness of its disposition
and the variety which it proposes in the game. Its fairways, its
greens and departures are of a good size and rich enough in challenges
to establish an excellent learning for beginners and a good test
for the more advanced players who will find here the occasion
to train playing short. Located near Carvoeiro the golf course
is visually attractive with waterfalls and great sights on the
sea. The club offers at disposal a restaurant, a pro shop, a practice
putting and golf lessons with video system.
Created
in 1991, the first 18 international holes of the resort were chosen
to welcome in 1992 and 1993 the Portuguese Open. 9 holes were
added afterwards in 2000. The architect, who possesses today more
than 50 golf courses achieved in the whole world, has creates
here a golf course rich in challenge. Indeed he knew how to use
a great variety of trees on the site. If we associate to the natural
obstacles the presence of oblique and fast greens, we obtain as
a result a golf course which the inexperienced golfer will consider
difficult. The ground, naturally wave-like and decorated with
a magnificent flora, offers magnificent points of view from the
departures 4, 5, and 6, as well as from the 13th hole. The club
offers a complete range of services. 
Villas
do Golfe: established on a magnificent domain, the resort
proposes luxurious villas each situated in an isolated and peaceful
environment, in front of a panoramic sight on the course.
The contemporary
five star hotel Quinta do Lago is located on a moved back part
of the coast of Algarve of southern Portugal, in the middle of
hills and pine woods, near the estuary of Ria Formose, famous
bird sanctuary.
You can taste cocktails at the Laguna
Bar, before dining in one on the two superb restaurants. According
to your desire, you can choose between a sophisticated Venetian
cuisine, or a menu based on traditional Portuguese specialities.
