Quinta
da Marinha
Located
on the famous Estoril coast, at 25 km from Lisbon, the Quinta
da Marinha course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and was established
on a private domain of 110 hectares, afforested by pines. The
architect worked on a flat ground, arranging the course on 6100
meters, for one by 71. The most spectacular hole is n°13,
one by 4 of the 339 meters going down to the sea. Once on the
ground, the golfer has the Atlantic Ocean in thorough decorations.
The whole course is crowned with magnificent panoramic sights.
The following hole (one by 3), Requires a precise shot so that
the ball passes over a cliff and lands on a wide but shallow green.
The whole course is face partially with the superb line of the
Sintra Mountains. Most of the bunkers and a good number of lakes
make the game more difficult for the golfer. The hole n°10,
for example, possesses a green completely surrounded with water.

Troia
Golf
Drawn
by Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1982, the golf course of Troia
is considered as the most difficult in Portugal. Its main obstacle
is due to the sand which lines the whole course. The ground is
besides very decorated with pines and wild plants. We find the
architect's signature on the greens which are at the same moment
small, narrow and always well kept by big bunkers. All the ingredients
of an impossible golf course seem to be present and nevertheless
when we are there, fairways seems wide and relatively harmless.
